I was born in Germany in 1966 and migrated to Australia in 1983. My wife and I have been living in Rockdale since 1994 when we bought our house here. We have four children.
I have been involved in politics in a minor way for years. Before 2016, this amounted essentially to writing letters to newspapers and to members of parliament. But in 2016 I decided to step up my involvement. I contested the federal electorate of Barton as an independent. I achieved 2.55% which wasn't as much as I had hoped for but enough to avoid embarrassment.
Since then I have been involved in various local environmental issues. What I have learned is this: When you take on big challenges, you don't always win, but sometimes you do. I am very proud to be a member of and have campaigned with Save Barton Park. We fought to save from development a huge amount of public green space known variously as "Barton Park" and "Cooks Cove South". And we won!
Now I feel I want to do more campaigning on the climate issue. I feel that campaigning on this issue is done to a large extent by people on the left side of politics. That in itself is not a problem but sometimes too much leftie rhetoric is employed for my taste and I am sure that this is also off-putting to many of the people we need to win over. My objective in building this site is to have a resource that appeals to people who are more centrist in outlook. I would like to win over people who are not yet convinced that we need to do more to fight climate change rather than just impress other campaigners.
